Imagine a group of people who all know each other fairly well. It could be becasue they go to the same skool, youth group, work for the same company, volunteer together, whatever. A new person is seeking to join that group. Who's responsibility is it that that individual gets a chance to fit in with the group: is it the group's or the individual's?

  1. if they have to ask themselfs this question in the first place..it probably means this new indervidual is never going to fit into this perticuler group..

  2. Each individual is responsible.

  3. well, it is the responsobility of the group as a whole becasue if one person in a already existing group does not like the new person, the likelyhood is yhat that person will not be aable to join the group.

  4. Its a joint responsibility I would say, we should all learn to treat everyone the way we wish to be treated

  5. The individuals.

  6. Hmm it takes both. On one side, the individual can't just expect to fit in without trying, talking to the group or making an attempt atleast.

Though, the individual probably wouldn't have a good chance of joining if the group didn't somewhat take part. No one wants to join a group that doesn't seem friendly or talk to them. It takes a lot of courage to approach a new group of people and the group should make it as easy as possible for the person, if they are nice that is...

so i dont know, i cant choose a side. It's equal i would say.

  7. It has to be a joint effort. Initially it would be up to the group leader to introduce and try to help settle in a new member, but the new member also needs to participate in their own inauguration. No single person can make other people accept another person if that is not what is wanted by the majority.

  8. Ultimate responsibility lies with the individual who wants to join the group.  Groups are not obligated to recruit or even accept new members.  Ideally, the group would be willing to allow the new person the chance to join them, but we do not live in an ideal world.
