  1. I am! We've been in our house now for 18 years and when we moved here re-pointed the patio and a small path leading round the side of the dining room to the back garden. In 1999 we put a conservatory onto the side of the dining room and despite 3 foot of concrete base and shoring, the ants continue to walk their original path from the front to the back of the house through the conservatory! This year, in addition, they have assembled in the hall, coming through the smallest hole possible in the corner of the skirting boards near a door frame! We have litterally sucked up hundreds in the vac and then thrown the debris onto the front lawn where hopefully a lot have survived. I hate killing insects and especially ants but i can't tolerate them within the house. The wetter the summer, the greater the problem!

  2. The birds in my garden love them!

  3. they are only a minor problem , i lived in Australia for 6 years , and some of the ants and other insects etc out there would give you nightmares

  4. The blackbirds think they're delicious.

  5. This is the first year I haven't had any.  I did spend a lot of time in the springtime though, getting rid of ants.

  6. I haven't seen any for years. I always think that they're rather interesting. They're harmless so what's the problem?

  7. There was fifty thousand of them in my bathroom last night, I counted them when I was laying in the bathtub.

  8. Well so far, so good this year ...............  But for all previous years, we have had flying ants indoors.  I come home from work and find the windows black with them.  The pest man says that they are coming up from under the house and looking for a way out.  It's generally an old house thing.  This current house, we had to dig out all of the existing floor, and put in proper damp proofing - which seems to have solved it.

  9. I can't say they are making my life unbearable.

I wonder what they think about us?
