Question:

Who's stronger? Blackwater or the U.S. marine?

I have an impression that Blackwater hires experienced veterans retired from the army, and the U.S. marine corp is made of under-trained fresh kids. And the newspaper said Blackwater always got tougher missions and ran ahead of the army men. From some photos, they are so confident and don't even wear helmets, unlike the regular troops.

So, is the Blackwater force more elite than the marines? Who suffered more casualty?

  1. Blackwater does not carry out military missions.

Blackwater was hired by the State department to guard diplomats.

They do not do military operations.

  2. Wow, why does this question bring back memories of all of the "who is tougher? A seal or a ranger????"

It depends on how you are measuring toughness - which is the exact same answer to every other one of these questions.  They do wildly different things so any comparison is not going to be apples to apples.

Why is that apples to apples concept so easily missed my people who keep asking this?

  3. blackwater is not more elite and casualties has nothing to do with elite.

    neither does a body count.

blackwater is best at what they do. killing. marines have a different mission. oh and they are more humane. as you said they are kids. blackwater consists of mainly ex military men so they are less careful about taking a life. they know life sucks so why not sell you service to the highest bidder?

  4. I'd like to think our US Marines could take ANYONE in the world in a fair fight, but BlackWater is basically employing mercenaries made up of former military members from all over the world. Needless to say, they're probably not the most moral of men/women since they're a) former military (there's got to be a reason they're former) and b) doing it for money.

  5. dumb question

some blackwater guys are Former Marines.

    some are former Army.

    some are former Navy.

no matter what you think, no special ops unit could take on a company of Marines or soldiers.

the fire power from even a platoon would be overwhelming for a small, specialized unit. spec operators are not doing their job if they are engaging anything at or above platoon size.

  6. The US Marine core is bigger than the combined armed forces of all of Great Britan (Royal Navy, Marines, Army, Air Force...etc), so I don't see any private force every prevailing over them.  On an individual basis I'd say a Blackwater OP would beat an average marine only because they are vets and more experienced and don't have the same rules of engagement (and probably have lesser morals as well)

  7. I would take the Blackwater guy.  He is older, more mature, more experienced, and is there because he wants to be.  That would be a one on one comparison.  The Marines compensate by being backed by numbers and the support of the US taxpayer.

  8. Blackwater are full of HIGHLY trained people who been fighting for years.

    I pick them.

  9. Blackwater is not just retired Army guys, its guys who have been in combat arms in Army or Marines, also they are not all retired, my buddy got a blackwater contract after doing just 6 years in the Army at age 24.  Blackwater may have pretty experienced guys, the military has MORE experienced guys, along with many young bucks with guns.  Also the military has better technology and better protection.  I have seen the armored suburban trucks get torn through like butter when they hit an IED...then you might want to be wearing a helmet if your body isn't blown up.

  10. The Marines spearheaded the invasion of Iraq.

    Blackwater guards VIPs.
