Who's that British boxer who become a vegetable?

Question

This happened as a result of a bout about 5 years ago. He was completely incapacitated and now is supported by his sisters and by charity.

I think the guy had dreadlocks, but all I remember is that he was black.

I think you may well be talking about Michael Watson who ended up in a serious condition after a fight with Chris Eubank around about 10 years ago. The term vegetable probably isnt a very nice way of saying it, he was a great fighter who could of gone on to be a truly great British fighter. Such a pity, i suppose all boxers do know the risks though.

or maybe your thining of Frank Bruno, he was sectioned because of his werird behaviour i.e camping out in his front garden as a result of his manic depression
