Who's the ''real'' Olympics winner?

Now, it is quite funny. USA has a total of 110 medals where as China has 100. But China has 51 Gold medals and USA has only 36 gold medals. But in rankings, even Yahoo, USA is on top just because they have 10 additional medals. But i think the real champs should be based on the Gold Medal count not overall medal count. Is this not a shame on them? They must worship Michael the big swimmer. Really is amazing.. If it was not for him, they have no other way to rank themselves on top. LMAO....

  1. This was an exciting Olympics, but there is no single winner.  The country of China won the most gold medals, but they also opened their country to the world, and in so doing opened up the many failings they have in areas that are free here in the west.  We did not force the athletes who competed as Americans to begin training at the age of 3.  We did not take them away from their parents for the good of the country, we also did not lie about the ages of our athletes!  There were other things that were wrong, but it is over now, and the winners were ALL the athletes who participated and had the chance to be there.

Michael Phelps was incredible, but then so was Bolt, so were the redeem team, so were the volleyball teams, and the gymnasts.  Why does there have to be only one winner??? Why can't everyone who watched also be a winner?  World records/olympic records have been broken, that is something for the next people who will come after to attempt to break.  Why is that a bad thing?

  2. Uh, There is no winner of the Olympics.  Just each event.

China did well, USA did well.

No one cares about the count.

  3. The real Olympics winner:

    China's image

    participating athletes

    Which country - unimportant.

  4. Peter G is a liar, probably just a foreigner.

US has always tallied total medals, they haven't switched anything.

He's just pissed the US beat his c**p country.

I expected answers like those from people like him though, after all, this is one stupid question that any moron wold know the answer too... or at least a 1 second google search would turn up.

Happy trolling, lying and instigating you jealous whiner.

  6. Firstly, the Olympics doesn't have a single winner. But in terms of the medal tally, everywhere outside the States, they rank the nations by gold medals, including the official IOC tally.

  7. LOL, another pissed off jealous whiny crybaby lying foreigner.

That's why they ALWAYS ask the SAME questions OVER and OVER again, they are jealous as all h**l because of their countries c**p medal count.

EVERYONE knows there has NEVER been an Olympics WINNER.

but at least the US beat your nation in medals including GOLD lol.

  8. No country actually 'wins' the Olympics. If a country competes then it has already won in my book.

As for the medal tally, well America have switched it so that they are on top of the tally 'cause they've ranked it according to overall medals. Every other country in the world lists the tally count according to most golds.

I hate to say it but i'm afraid the Americans look like they just cant handle being bested by China.

  9. for me china is the real winner.. because its a poor country and ther may be a not good fecility fir players as ther in usa.. then also china played well and got more gold medals.. china rocks...

  10. no specific country is the winner. the athletes are the winners. they train for many years and excel in their chosen sport and the olympics give them the opportunity to show case their skills. congratulations to them all.

  11. Everyone who participated are Olympic winner!

However, there was this one guy that I think a real loser. The guy that kicked the referee in taekwondo. I forgot his name, but I think he doesn't have sportsmanship at all. Why kick the referee? Lodge and official complaint and you are still able to compete in next Olympic. But now, he and his coach were banned for life.

  12. I assume you're looking at Yahoo US version, that's not how it is on other countries Yahoo.

In truth the real winners are the viewing public.

We get to see 16 days of fantastic sportsmen and women from across the world doing the best they know how.

Where else do we get the chance to see that?

  13. Gone are the days of US supremacy in the Olympics.

  14. the female american gymnasts. because they are all hot and amazing.

  15. lol sum of the people that got gold must hav bn on drugs but we'll never know if thats true personally im aussie nd i would want australia to win but i do think that the usa should of won it and not china.

china spent way too much money on their athletes its unfair.

  16. who you think is the winner in you heart, he is the winner as for you

  17. US

  18. I have to say that the USA won the total medal Olympic count because everyone that won a medal, regardless of metal color is a champion.  Four years + to prepare for their sports, plus travelling to a far away country and living in a foreign culture's atmosphere for almost three weeks is an adventure.

Although the color "gold" is more valuable, even winning a bronze medal means that you achieved something by beating the best in the world and earning a top three/four placing in your sport, depending on which sports gave out bronze for fourth place.

It's exciting whenever it's an Olympic year because we get to see the culture of the host country as well as the pageantry of the parade of nations and exhibition of their own cultural heritage.

  19. You cannot win the Olympics, even annoying  Brits and Aussies can understand that .........................I think...............or not obviously.

  20. China won.  Think of it this way, if one country won 50 bronze medals, and another won 49 gold medals, but no others, then who would be the winner.  Certainly not the country that won 'the most' medals.

Basically, points are assigned to 'weight' the places (medals) won.  The most basic method is 3 points = first place (gold); 2 points = second place (silver); 1 point = third place (bronze).  Using this calculation China wins with a score of 223 points to the U.S.'s 220 points.

A more typical scoring method (world, college, high school, etc. track & field competitions) use a bigger difference in point allocation.  For instance, 5points/first; 3points/second; 1 point/third.

In this case, China is easily the winner.  Remember, earning more first places is worth a lot more than winning an equal number of third places...

  21. The whole world is a winner because we had just witnessed one of the most spectacular olympics.
