When I was a kid, we used to live next door to the guy who called the Derby for years, Van Vance. They had a kid 2 years older than me, Van Jr.. His nickname was "Thumpy". He was a spoiled brat, and a first class t**d.

Tom Durkin has a contract with NBC and calls all the races that they broadcast.  The track (Churchill Downs) has its own announcer who will call the race to the crowd onhand and over the satellite feed.  Luke Kruytbosch  was moved from Hollywood Park to Churchill a few years ago, but I'm not certain if he is still there.
