  1. Shane Mosley was probably better in his prime, although most people probably wouldnt be able to tell. This is because Mayweather sells himself better than Mosley did in his prime, even though Mosley fought tougher competition. Mosley was quick and powerful against better opponents than Floyd.

  2. Peter H's answer is so oddly close to the one I'd write, I concede to him.  I agree that Shane's true greatness was at lightweight, and the ovation he'll receive at the dais in Canastota when he gets inducted will be downright deafening.

  3. "Sugar" Shane Mosley was better in his prime. He's always fought better opponents. Even now, he fights guys like Cotto while Mayweather fights guys like Arturo Gatti and Carlos Baldomir. Mayweather has the skills but the guy wants as little risk as possible.

  4. Floyd Mayweather He A BeasT !!!!

  5. Mosely at lightweight was pretty close to unbeatable, probably the greatest boxer-puncher in that division since Duran.

Mayweather may have been dominant, but not the type of dominance that Sugar Shane displayed at that weight, I think only Philip Holiday heard the final bell against him.

I think Mosely will be more appreciated after he retires, you look at the two guys that beat him when he was rolling, and its Vernon Forrest and Winky Wright - two stylistic nightmares for anyone, especially a shorter, smaller fighter like Shane was.  When he was at his peak at lightweight there really wasn't anyone who was going to be able to deal with his speed and huge punching power - seriously, watch some clips on youtube or something, its amazing.
