It's between Federer and Laver.

Even the best female tennis player of either Graff, Navratilova or Court would lose to Jimmy Connors and he wasn't the best.

Federer and Laver have proven to be the greatest ALL AROUND players, Sampras never made a final at the French, let alone win it.

Laver I think gets the edge because in the Open Era, at 31 years of age, he achieved the Calendar Grand Slam!

in recent times....agassi.

he won all the majors on 3 different surfaces (only man ever). he made a comeback like no other: from rock-bottom to the top again. that feat alone was insanely impressive.

he also won the olympics and was a key Davis cup performer.

off topic: and as human he was/is tops, too. his introspection and thoughtful ways makes folks like sampras and borg look mundane.

Between Sampras and Borg, Sampras. He won 14 grand slams!

The greatest player of all time, in my opinion, is Rod Laver. He won the Career Grand Slam (winning all 4 grand slams in a calendar year) twice. That means he won the Australian Open, the French Open, Wimbledon, and the US Open all in one year, TWICE! (In 1962 and 1968)
