Question:

Who's the main character in The Great Gatsby?

in my opinion the narrator is the main character, because i think the reader is suppose to understand why the narrator thinks Gatsby (who is a dishonest man and a criminal) IS great...

?because his love for daisy(this may not be her name, i forgot) is true and pristine ?

  2. Wow - you posted your question 10 minutes ago, and already you're giving up on an intelligent answer.  Gotta love somebody with patience.

    Nick (the "narrator") is NOT the main character; he's just the Greek chorus in the tragedy.  Daisy IS the main character; Gatsby would be nothing without his drive to win her.

    And if you don't know what a Greek chorus is... it's time to do a LOT more reading, because YOU don't have the right to criticize ANYBODY.
