I'm a big comics fan, and though women aren't usually represented very well in comics, there are some pretty cool ones. My favorites are Phoenix and Mystique from X-Men.

  1. ive always thought wonder woman was pretty cool

  2. I've always liked the Wonderful Wasp, mainly because she doesn't have the most impressive powers. She can shrink, and when she shrinks she sprouts insect wings and can fly. She also carries a weapon that fires an electric "sting." She is more like Tinkerbell than she is like a superheroine. Dispite her dubious abilities she has managed to be one of the better Avengers chairpersons, and effectively lead that team for a number of years. She's a lot of fun.

Mystique is probably Marvel's best villainess, and I say probably because not everyone would consider her a villainess since she served as a member of X-Factor for two or three years and has sometimes sided with heroes against villains. She's more amoral and self serving than she is evil. Her shapeshifting ability is interesting, and the number of identities she has used is amazing. She's another female character who adds a lot to any storyline. The Enchantress runs a close second, and I've enjoyed every step of her long history which I've been following since I first saw her in "Avengers" #8 (first series) back in 1965.

I think Rita Farr (a.k.a. Elasti-Girl) was DC's most interesting heroine back in the early silver age and she was my favorite member of the Doom Patrol. Her ability to change her size made her an unusually powerful heroine since she had enormous strength when she became gigantic. It was interesting seeing her in action since she was usually right in the thick of things and was the real muscle on her team. Too bad she became one of the few and first casualties of the silver age, she was killed much too soon.

As for a DC villainess, I can't decide between Poison Ivy and Star Sapphire (the second one, who was a charter member of The Secret Society of Super-Villains).
