  1. Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz.

salsera gave you a very good answer, except that Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz was NOT indigena. She was actually descendent from spaniards and hers family owned an Hacienda (Ranch), I have been there.

And also is good to have a link in your answers.

  2. Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz, an indigenous nun.  A woman way ahead of her time and extremely bright.  During her time, the only way a woman could attend college was by entering the religious community.  So that was how she was able to attend college.  She was a feminist and wrote about how poorly men treated women.  Finally, the Pope told her to stop producing those kinds of writings.  Bound by her vow of obedience, she obeyed.

Her writings are extremely difficult and time-consuming for a student to analyze.  She wrote a lot, using the vosotros form.

  3. Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz

original name  Juana Ramírez de Asbaje   poet, dramatist, scholar, and nun, an outstanding writer of the Latin American colonial period and of the Hispanic Baroque.
