  1. Well as of right now I would have to say the Tampa Bay Rays manager in the American League. In the National League would have to be the New York Mets manager.

  2. AL- Joe Maddon

    NL- Tony La Russa

  3. AL is Joe Madden with how well he has managed the Rays and NL is Lou Pinelli.  He always seems to do well managing teams.

  4. Joe Maddon obviosly for the AL and Joe Torre for the NL because he has them in playoff position.

  5. AL Joe Maddon

    NL Jerry Manuel

  6. Jerry Manuel and Joe Maddon

  7. NL - Lou Pinella

    AL - Joe Maddon

  8. AL Joe Maddon (without a doubt)

NL Cecil Cooper ( Astros were suppose to be trash this year, now they could pull a Rockies and steal a playoff spot, unlikely, but possible)

  9. NL Lou Piniella

    AL Joe Maddon

  10. AL:Mike Sciocia (Angels)

Reason:They are the best in the AL in everything

    NL: Lou Pinella/Jerry Manuel (Cubs/Mets)

Reason: They are tied because the Cubs are the team in the Majors and right now Mets are lightning hot.

  11. Jerry Manuel NY. Mets

    Joe Madden TB. Rays

Does anyone remember where the Mets were when they fired Willie Randolph. LAST place well below .500 let alone 1st place.

Joe Madden no doubt aboout it. Done more with less coin than the MIGHTY Redsox and Yankees in there division.

  12. Lou Pinella

    Joe Maddon

  13. AL: Joe Maddon

    NL: Jerry Manuel

  14. There are some great coaches out there, but here are my choices for 2008:

AL: Joe Maddon, Tampa Bay Rays- The guy has brought a team of young, inexperienced ball players all the way to winning the AL East, a division rich in history of the Red Sox and Yankees. He deserves it without a doubt in my mind.

NL: Tony LaRussa, St. Louis Cardinals- It would be too hard to win it if they don't make the playoffs, but he definitely is worthy of the award. He has brought a team of over-acheivers all the way to 10 games over .500, while making the best of a poor pitching rotation. He has also been able to side-step injuries to Carpenter, Wainwright, and plenty of other key players throughout the year.

  15. For the AL its no doubt that it is Joe Maddon.

Now for the NL I would love to say "Sweet" Lou Piniella since he has brought the Cubs the best record in the NL. But this award must go to Jerry Manuel of the New York Mets. Look at what the guy has done with this team. By the time that Willy left the Mets were in 3rd place and now under hie management they are in 1st!

  16. AL must be Joe Maddon. He is the Jim Leyland of the Rays in 2008. No one ever thought they'd be a winning team this year.

NL should be Jerry Manuel for getting the Mets on the right track. They have the talent to go all the way with Wright, Reyes, Beltran, Delgado, Santana, and Wagner...

  17. In the American League, Joe Madden is without a question the top choice.  To take a team that is a perennial laughing stock and turn them into the best club in the game is quite an achievement.

Pinella seems to be the  consensus pick in the NL.  I don't disagree.  I just hope for his sake he pulls it off.
