Who Are your Cy Young and Unsung Hero Candidates?

Ok, I want to know your Cy Youngs and your Unsung Hero Awards.

Cy Young - Ryan Dempster, yes Brandon Webb has 18 wins but I honestly think Ryan Dempster could outduel Brandon because Dempster has a devastating sinker, a nice split finger and a VERY good fastball with a lot of movement. He has been piling up A LOT of wins lately so thats why hes somebody to watch.

Unsung Hero - Ted Lilly, yes he will get lit up once in awhile but his record is 12-6 with a 4.32 ERA...yes he has a little high ERA but do you know why he won all those games? (yes he has had a lot of run support but thats not the answer Im looking for) the answer is that HE KEEPS THE CUBS IN THE GAME AND GIVES THEM A CHANCE TO WIN...He will give up up to 4 runs in a game but he keeps their offense in check after that and gives the Cubs a chance to win games. Plus, Most of the games he give up less than 3 runs.

So those are my (biased opinions) you might wanna say but thats what I believe...

My Cy Young for the AL is Roy Halladay because he is a horse and has 8 complete games!

(I would pick Alexei Ramirez 2nd...hes like another Alfonso Soriano and he keeps the White Sox rolling...unfotunately)

Webb is definitely more deserving. And just to let you know Webb may have the best sinker in the league, has a great slider, a decent split finger, and a sick 2 seam fastball that dances all over the place. Lincecum will be runner up and Dempster if he finishes strong would be worthy of 3rd.

And Alexei is definitely a good unsung hero for the White Sox.

Ok, i hate to tell you this, but you really sound like a bias Chicago fan.

Demster over Webb?  Dude, Webb has a better ERA, a better WHIP and a better record playing for a worser team.  Can Dempster win 18 games for the D'backs?  Espeicially not when Demster only has 3 wins on the road.

And no Teddy Lilly isnt the unsung hero.  He's just an average pitcher who DOES get a lotta run support.  Yea, its not like he can help it, but he does get run support and this award should go to a player who actually served his team, and not the other way around.

AL Cy Young, as much of a fan of Roy Halladay I must give it to Cliff lee 17-2, 2.43 ERA.  Cmon.  He has 2 losses and that with the fact that hes on the losing Clevland ballclub.  Just unbelivable.

As for NL Unsung hero, how about Shane Victorino.

And AL, how bout Denard Span.

EDIT: Yeah, but im not just going to give awards away to ppl just because they are unknown.  It should solely based on statistics how someone is chosen.  Webb does own the better stat than Dempster, would you atleast agree on that?

Dude, how do you not pick edmonds as your unsung hero.  He was cut and then came to the cubs and has been spectacular.

Lilly is doing what he was payed to do and expected to do, be the number 2 starter.

Its a team effort though for the cubs everyone has been topnotch this year.
