I know people have there opinions. I know people will say i'm just asking because im American. But i also know that he cheated. But what I didn't know was that Gonzo not only lied about the ball hitting his racquet BUT he also hit a forehand in James' face. Gosh. I didn't know he played like this before.

BTW: please do not report this question like the last one even though it was asked respectfuly. I have my opinion.

  1. I have lost faith in him -because he was dishonest. I've been playing tennis for many years, and I can tell if a ball even grazes my racquet slightly. So can he. It might not have even changed the outcome of the match, but it's still cheating/poor sportsmanship/dishonesty.

  2. He wouldn't won the match either, he had 3 match points and anyone who remembers his match in US Open against Agassi knows why he didn't have a GS final in his curriculum ...

Gonzales said he did'nt felt anything, I don't know how you can prove contrary ...

It's like Djokovic, he didn't loss the match just because of a smash

  3. i did.-

it's not like a had much faith in him before, but the little respect i had for the guy is lost now.-

and it's not because he left james out, it's because he cheated.-

i think tennis is bigger than that.-

  4. I never had a problem with Gonzalez before yesterday, but after his dishonorable actions I've spent about 3 hours doing my best to point out what a cheater he is!

Now we wait for all the blind Chilean patriots to complain about American athletes, or for people to bring up Blake at the Las Vegas tournament, or point out that 1 point doesn't win a match. (WE KNOW no one ever said it did, doesn't change the fact that Gonzo cheated)

  5. I think that it is something to discuss, but not the worst thing. I do like Gonzalez as a player and a person though.  However, this issue can be discussed, but not for long because it was minor and it's over and done with.  Blake is great too, but he should have continued to focus on his game.  He said himself that the Olympics are supposed to be a gentleman's sport, but he himself cause something by letting something get to him as well as pointing too many fingers at his opponent during the match and afterwards.

  6. Hi All,

There is NO WAY Gonzalez didn't feel that ball hit the racket, all players know when that happens.  He clearly did not admit it, which shows an amazing lack of character and honesty...and he did it with cameras confirming what happened AND at the Olympics.  I honestly think he should be disqualified, any potential medal taken away, and he should be highly criticized for this.  What example does he set for young players? He and his country should feel shame over this, Nadal is going to kick his cowardly butt!

  7. Big time....I used to enjoy watching him and rooting for him, but not anymore.  He showed his true colors.  What aweful sportsmanship.

Ya know he didnt even need that point, he should have fessed up.  It was obvious to everyone except the umpire.  It was absolutely ridiculous.  Umpire should have questioned Gonzalez and Blake should have called a challenge.

Gonzalez has to go back to proper schooling in tennis.  It still is a gentlemans game and at this point, he isnt one.

  8. Do you have a video of him hitting Blake's face? I didn't see that. Gonzo is a huge cheater and that is the only reason why James lost to him. James got thrown off by that racket incident and lost.

  9. Me!!! I use to like Fernando up until this point, it shows what type of person he is, how could he cheat like that?! He knew fine well the ball had touched his raquet yet never owned up!!!! He doesnt deserve to be in the final, Blake does :( Fernando Gonzalez has just proven he is a bad sportsman and i hope every player in the locker room ignores him lol!!! He doesnt deserve a medal for his country.... he`ll have to live with the fact he cheated Blake out an Olympic Medal, just horrible.

Hope Rafa kicks his chilean ***!!! :P

  10. yes defiently a cheater, dishonorable and selfish....

gonzo has sealed his fate now for a while.. he is going to have a bad reputation amongs't other players and in the tennis world..

And yet alot of countires  have so much to say about the american players, this one i think takes the cake...

  11. Who doesn't? That type of behavior is completely unethical and inappropriate.  If that happened at Wimbledon he would have been suspended. Now he's guaranteed at least a Silver Medal. It's just shameless and unsportsman like.
