Who Else has an Ebay Horror Story?

I've had problems and obviously others have had them, too! Since I am now a seller, I understand why so many Ebayers only accept PayPal for payments. This post is a great story!

  1. (Your link is broken, BTW.)

Paypal is the "coin of the realm" on eBay,  Most Sellers accept it because they can go from sale to paid in seconds and spend their time shipping stuff instead of dealing with potentially counterfeit paper.  (I've taken checks and MOs for a decade and only had one bounce, but I'm selling stuff that's low-risk for that.)   Paypal isn't Utopia, though.

[Re the battery, you could've filed a report with the USPS.  They would verify the receipt of an empty, open envelope.  Insurance would not have been honored due to insufficient packaging.  Sellers are liable under the Federal Trade Commission's "Mail Order Rule" to ensure timely delivery of their products.  The Seller should have sent you a replacement item when you notified them of the open paper envelope.  Failing that, with your USPS report to back you, you should've filed an Item Not Received claim with eBay/Paypal.  Failing that, you get a charge-back on your credit card, if you funded your purchase that way.]

  2. I bought a notebook computer battery, they sent it in a paper envelope, the envelope was empty. I didn't get insurance, nothing we can do. Why the h**l would you send a two pound battery in a paper envelope!
