I'd choose Tendulkar because of his consistancy.Ponting performs on big occasions he is not consistant as Tendulkar.You can also see Tendulkar as an all round batsman - he can defend and also slog to any kind of bowling attack.Where as Ponting he can play the quicker bowlers very well and can slog them very fluently but when you bowl slower balls to batsman like Ponting and Yuvraj they cannot play them very well.Thats where guys like Inzamam  and Tendulkar are better they can handle the slower balls well which makes them all round cricketers.Overall Tendulkar is better than Ponting but i feel that Ponting will be one who will break Tendulkar's test records.
