Who Thinks Cotto Can Beat Mayweather?

In my opinion,i think he cannot,Mayweather Just has the superior skills.Cotto is a great fighter but i do not think he could beat Mayweather.Cotto is One-Dimensional and relies on power,if he didnt have power,he wouldnt be where he is right now.Other than that,he is a good guy and a great fighter who respects his opponents.What are your thoughts?

Cotto is a one dimensional fighter and a good brawler. Cotto only showed he can counter punch against Mosley. Everytime Mayweather get ready  to fight these brawler, everyone says to pressure him. They do that and lose. If Mayweather lose, it would have to be a good boxer. Castillo pressure but coudn't cut the ring off. Hatton cut the ring off but didn't show any defense. If Cotto wants to beat Mayweather, he has to show defense. Dont forget, Mayweather can fight going back, on the ropes, in the center of the ring, inside and has stamina. Cotto would lose if he gets into a boxing match. Mayweather pop shots brawler as he is moving. Throw combos, one big shot and  get out of there. Cotto stamina is not that good. He breaths to hard inbetween rounds and get winded if he's has to go the distance. Cotto started on his bike, arond the 8 round against Mosley. Cotto only has 4-12round fights. Mayweather has 11-12round fights. "Yes," anyone can lose. Mayweather uses his jab only when he has to. If its a boxer, he will use the jab. A brawler, not as much. Mayweather beat guy's with smarts. A lot of guy's get in there, no mental game and think they going to beat him with strength and pressure. If you tell your guy not to chace him, then he beats you in a boxing match. If you tell him to chase, cut the ring off, he beats you with counter punches, out smarts you, defense and turns it on late because of his good stamina. Dont punch yourself out.

the way to beat mayweather is by pressure and being stronger then him. castillo almost did it. cotto pressures just like casstillo and is stronger and also in his prime.

I think Floyd is way too fast for Cotto. In order for Cotto to win, he would have to constantly apply pressure and smother Floyd's punches. Throw every body shot with bad intentions.

Cotto is not one dimensional.  He can box,  he can counterpunch,  he can fight going forward and backwards.  He will pose a larger challenge then Hatton could to Mayweather but ultimately Floyd's speed will be hard to overcome.  No one is unbeatable though and a well timed punch to the chin can change any outcome.  Whoever beats Mayweather,  if there is a guy needs to stop chasing him.  Meet PBF in the middle of the ring and just try to trade blows with him.

The key to beating Floyd is to wait him out, don't chase, get in where you fit in (take what you can get).  Cotto can weather the storm in the early rounds and confuse Floyd by standing right in his face, don't get cute, and wait for your shots.  Cotto should win if they ever fight.

Cotto has a good shot to beat mayweather but chances are mayweather will still beat him regardless. I personaly think de la hoya has a much better shot at beating him as well as shane mosely does. Not to take anything away from cotto but oscar and shane are just faster/smarter and have more exp than cotto. Yeah i know cotto technicaly beat shane but sytles make fights and that still was a close fight that could have gone either way heard cotto is the 1 who dont want a mosely rematch anyway. Regardless though cotto has a good chance to beat mayweather a much  better chance than hatton ever had thats for sure.

I totally agree with you. Cotto is his biggest challanger but unfortunately for Cotto he will come up short. Mayweather, love him or hate him, is one h**l of a fighter. Both Ring Magazine and Boxing News rate him as the best pound for pound current pro.

As Ali said "you can't hit what your eyes can't see" and this would be the case here. Cotto can have as much power as he wants but it won't beat an all round polished fighter like Mayweather.
