Question:

Who Will Win The Northwest Division?

Title explains itself. I ask this because I am on a fan discussion board for one of the teams in the Northwest Division (won't say which team). Those fans think their favorite team will win it. While they are my favorite team too, I disagree.

So who do you think will win the Northwest division?

  1. Avalanche if Sakic comes back, if not Edmonton.

  2. i am a wild fan so i want the wild to win it but they lost some good players, gotten a few ok players...im gonna say the canucks

  3. Avalanche.

Check the stats on Budaj last year.... 16-10-4 .903% 2.57GAA ....id say hes not that bad of a goalie.

If Sakic returns then that only makes them better but remember he missed half of a season so its not like they dont know how to play without him.  Forsberg may come back as well around christmas if his foot is "ok".  Foote and Salei will be on the squad all year and Svatos will also be back and he can score with the best of them.  Hejduk and Liles need to come up big next year, if they can do that and Stastny and Smyth stay healthy then Avs walk away with this divison.

  4. the oilers if the last 20 games last seasons wasn't a fluke and the young guns can play like that agian

  5. Pmunny- Your Oilers will.

They will be healthy FINALLY. Their blueline is great with Visnovsky and Sourray. They have good offense and solid goaltending. Many think they will be in either 4th or 5th. I'm thinking they will be no lower than 3rd. They are a great team who proved that they will be serious next year because of what happened last March, April.

    atlbraves797- LMFAO!! .903 SV % is terrible!!

  6. i'll have to say either the flames, canucks, oilers, wild, or avs

    hahaha too early to tell.

  7. Canuks

  8. Calgary...Edmonton may or may not be a contender.  Vancouver, Minnesota, and Colorado have all suffered during the offseason.

Even if Joe Sakic comes back...Peter Budaj and Andrew Raycroft goaltending tandem?  Is this the Eastern Conference?  Colorado is a very likely 5th place in the NW division.  Minnesota doesn't look much better.

  9. You have Oilers fan written all over you - I'll say the Flames will win it...

  10. The Flames, the Canucks  are suposed to be good every year and yet they never are, the Avlanche could win it but Adam Foote is overrated and it is just probably a no go with their goaltending. The Oilers are young but they still don't have great goaltending and their team doesn't have enough depth. The Wild lost Roloston and Demitra that is tough to bounce back from. The Flames have Dion Phaneuf,  Iginlia, Cammalleri, Kiprusoff, Lombardi, Conroy, Sarich, Regehr and Bertuzzi they should win that division.

  11. Wild! I enjoy the Wild they play some good hockey and good probably win it! but I'd put my money on Calgary to win it! Wild in 2nd though!

  12. It's between the Flames and the Wild

It might be a bit biased, but ..i really don't care.

    Vancouver:

    Gained: Pavol Demeitra

    Losted: Naslund, Morrison

Still have the Sedins,  can Luongo do everything for them once again?

    Minnesota:

Tough competion, The division winning squad from last season intact

Gained: Nolan and added MAB on the blueline.

Colorado: Pretty good team. But will joe play this year? What about goaltending.

Edmonton =Weak. Cole is a great addition, but he is one of the very few bright spots on this team. Goaltending isn't exactly solid.

Calgary: Iginla, Langkow, Regehr, Phaneuf, Kiprusoff. Additions of Bert, Cammy, Bourque, Giordano, Pardy (perhaps), Prust..etc... I think that all we will need to finish on top of the NW is getting back the 'old stand on his head' Kipper. McE isn't that bad either. Maybe Backlund can crack up into the lineup :D?

  13. FLAMES

how do you go wrong with Iginla and Kiprusoff

with the additions of Mike Cammalleri, Rene Bourque, and re-signing Conroy and Langkow. Its the flames year in 2008/2009

  14. flames

  15. Colorado

    Calgary

are too close to call wait till a couple weeks come in

P.S. it dont matter Devs will win the Stanley Cup
