I think it's all silly, the people that are doing it are professionals. We should trust these people. But what if it did actually go wrong. WE'D ALL DIE!! Ha, but really I don't believe it.

  1. no way black holes require enormous amounts of mass two atoms wont last very long the event horizon itself will be less than the diameter of an atom

  2. We can't possibly hope to understand the MIND OF GOD !?

What the h**l is wrong with you people agreeing with this nature meddling? What on earth are those white coats gonna do if their hole suddenly grows bigger, fuelling itself and they can't close it? I tell you wha- get sucked right into that vortex screaming all the way ! You don't go playing around with peoples holes, especially GODS ! And if something horrible from the 4th dimension pops its turtlehead out, don't go looking for any psychics with metal legs to help - cause they don't exist chum !!!

This is real and this is scary stuff ! I even remember a doc which depicted all the REALISTIC possible scenarios for doomsday- this was one of them.

Bye bye cruel world, if you're not scared then you're either naïve or over confident in ability. My god, they finally gone and done it ! Get your stinking paws off me, you damned dirty ape !

  3. Actually, SC's answer should not be comforting to anyone. By definition, the End of the World is an event that can happen only once. And although it is true that most predictions of the End of the World are crackpot nonsense, that doesn't mean that they all are. Those "professional physicists" themselves figure that there's a very, very small chance that they will destroy the world. Negligible, maybe. Like playing Russian roulette with a pistol having a trillion-round drum.

  4. It's rubbish. We had the "end of days" before and we are all still here.

Nostradamus predicted it for 1994 and 1998, but bugger all happened.

  5. I don't either. You're right it is silly. I haven't noticed any other planets blowing up recently have you? The apocalyptic mind set is just that - all in the mind (of those who chose to think it.)

  6. not heard nothing about it.does gordon the moron brown know about this story?hope not he will tax us to death.

  7. ok thats the first time i've heard that...but now that i have... THAT IS THE MOST STUPID THING I'VE HEARD IN MONTHS...x lol

  8. 9 days now - last I heard, it was 10 - & no there's probably no truth in it. There's always a rumour going round at some time or other. It'd probably be so quick & painless we'd never notice if it DID happen anyway.

  9. It would appear that many previous answers don't know what you are referring to so read this link;

    http://www.nytimes.com/2008/03/29/scienc...

It's about an experiment in a 14 mile long ( circular ) particle accelerator due to take place in 9 days time which could, theoretically, create black holes which in turn could devour the Earth!

Scientists are tampering with the very basics of nature which we know nothing about and it is causing great concern to many academics.

Regarding your trust of "professionals" you would do well to remember it was they who designed and built the unsinkable Titanic!

  10. "the people that are doing it are professionals."

Professional whats? Doing what? Physicists, gardeners, swimming pool cleaners, ... it depends on whether they are talking within their fields or not.

But, no, I don't believe it.

  11. I take it that your talking about the experiment to crash atoms in to each other at the speed of light in order to create dark matter and examine the results to test theories on the creationof the universe?

Theoretically, if they are correct and have built a machine capable of handling the experiment then there will be no issue at all. This is probably the case as they are as you said, professionals.

However, there is a very tiny remote chance that the experiment can set off the equivalent of a miniature black hole that would quickly devour all matter surrounding it and continue to grow until it sucked in the planet and much of the galaxy.

The planet would disappear in about three seconds so you wouldn't have much chance to say goodbye!

Let's hope that nobody had a bad day at the office any ****** up a calculation or two or this time it may very well be the end of the world for real!!!!

  12. Not going to happen, in 9 days anyway. But one day it will and if your are around for that event, you won't even know it happened.

  13. Sorry, which professionals are these then?

  14. come ON!!! they're brilliant physicists, they're not suicidal.

  15. Dumb, small brained, stupid idiots will believe anything they are told and try to pass on. Beware of these low humans.

  16. I do, and it's a good excuse for a party anyway!

    What could you do besides...

Humans, professionals, ha, that's what the guys at the nuclear power planet, oh god what's its name... Leaked, erm... Yes we are as thick as planks, we're humans.

I guess this is about LHC, yes, the black holes has been calculated to eat the Earth, ESA don't agree, bloody Dutch, and bloody swiss...

Well, lets put it this way, if I cram 15 dynamite sticks in my mouth, and ignite them, what'll happen. Same kind of thing, time bomb.

  17. yes we are all going to die, someday, the end of the world as we know it will be december 21, 2012.-blurey

  18. Oh for gods sake..

The world was already supposed to end in 2000.

Is there ANY point whatsoever in believing in this nonsense...

No, unless you want to waste your time.

  19. It is for some people...

  20. i don't think so!

  21. No one with more than two dozen functioning neurons.

  22. maybe by world they meant disney world!

  23. it can if the sun collides with the earth creating a super nova explosion kill us all

  24. The Large Hadron Collider will not end the world. It will create miniature black holes that will collapse in a billionth of a second. The black holes will be so small that they would be the size of the end of a pin.

The experiment that is happening on the 10th September is scientists racing atoms at each other at 99.99% of the speed of light.

The worst that can happen is that it's a giant waste of money.

The media have caused all of this buzz.

The scientists are highly accomplished that are running the experiment.

Scientists are trying to discover how matter is made etc, etc. Also, what happening during the big bang.

There will be heat in the chamber 10x the heat of the sun but there will be liquid nitrogen.

    Don't panic, nothing will happen.

There are two experiments, 10th September but the most anticipated is the 21st October.

I asked a question similar to yours.

Everyone stay calm, theres nothing to fear!

And even if something bad did happen, the world would be gone so fast there'd be no time to process or feel what actually happened

  25. I dont believe but the world WILL end in 2012 maybe

  26. It is written no one knows the time God will choose to end this world as we know it. Not even Jesus. Read Rev, it will tell you all you need to know. Man will not get that power, only God.

Lie down and be at peace.

  27. i think its already ended and we are all in a white padded room thinking we're normal but the "alive" people are giving you drugs so you wont notice...

with my luck ide probably find my perfect guy who loves me an hour before the worlds ended! lol

    =]

  28. is this about the LHC?

child's play... as far as Doomsday scenarios are concerned here's proof...

Have you ever seen ANYONE at CERN that wears a GOATEE?  No.

Not one of the announcements about the LHC has ever contained any evil monologues, either!

    see?  No worries.

  29. Wow, 9 days that's not very long so what can I do to change it.  Nothing, so why worry.
