  1. so true

    true to the core

i never understand why people take everything so seriously.  maybe thats why: cause life is like a REALLY LONG movie and thats why ppl get so into it and cant pull themselves away from the "tv" so to speak.  a long time ago I realized this; that life is just a continuous stream of ups and downs and crying about it isnt gonna do c**p.  after that i learned how to stay calm and relaxed no matter what happens to me.

  2. Not I.

  3. ...life is like a movie...the movie never ages...you do...

  4. I theorized its a dream of a schizophrenic higher being and all the nut jobs are just its bad sides.

  5. Not really. A movie has to make sense and you always get all the answers at the end.

Life is not like that at all.

  6. I agree because movies are filmed by humans. That's why they know what they are doing.

  7. Life certainly can seem like a movie or an epic story can't it? To some degree I would say yes that life if very much like a movie, and the reason for this is not what most people would imagine.

In the works of Carl Gustav Jung as well as further work by Joseph Campbell, we learn of a concept called archetypes. These "archetypes" can be thought of as universal patterns the inherently reside in our subconscious mind and they tend to align themselves extremely well with many of the movie roles or more appropriately the mythologies of the various cultures around the world.

Because we are all affected to varying degrees by the archetypes, we cast ourselves in various roles throughout our lives. In a fully self actualized person, most or perhaps all archetypes would be developed and utilized at their appropriate moments in our personal experience to somewhat guide our direction or choices to fulfill our personal epic adventure. Often though, we have people who are obsessed with a particular archetype and they become what we would think of as "character" actors in the movies.

Where our lives differ from the movies is that our experience and the choices or reactions we have or make in response, carry with them the weight of responsibility. We cannot opt to turn our "movie" off, rewind it, fast forward it or freeze frame it. Sometimes we all think it would be nice if we could.

One thing that is significant that you mentioned is that yes, it will have good parts and bad parts, ups and downs. Most often we can look back over the course of our lives and realize that what we "perceived" as a "bad" time can frequently be the catalyst for a wonderful change or catharsis that has led us to a more promising now.

Something else to consider is that by way of synchronicity, our lives, much like the movies or a good novel will have foreshadowing of what is to come.

  8. thats interesting. i agree.

  9. Well, not me.

Tell me you didn't thumbs down everyone that didn't agree with you....

Ok. Here's the thing. 'Life is like a movie' is a simile. That's it. Quit trying to make it mean more and be all profound. Technically, life could be like a movie because a movie can be anything.

  10. Perhaps.  But sometimes I feel like I'm more of an involuntary spectator at my own movie.  Did you ever think of that?

  11. Not really but because you react in life and in a movie the course is already projected

  12. Who gets the remote control? can u rewind now pleaaaaaaaaaaaaaaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

  13. Wow i never thought of it like that... you opened my eyes thanks!
