Who agrees that Safin is a complete idiot?

In a press conference a day or two before his match with Federer, Safin said that he has no chance of beating him -what moron says that before a big semi-final match? Doesn't he know that words create? The idiot also said that the only way to win would be to run around like a rabbit, like Nadal. I guess the Russian spastic doesn't know that Rafa does more than run around to win matches - he has some of the most explosive ground strokes in the game and a great attitude on court and off, unlike the loser Safin. He made stupid unforced errors in the 2nd set tie-break - why? Because the big oaf doesn't want to win and doesn't care. Safin once said when asked about his decline, that he still enjoys playing and it beats coaching in some lousy club all day, and coming home to an ungrateful wife! These are pretty much his words, I'm serious. It's all about looking good for the ladies with him. Too bad Novak lost to him, he would have fought like a lion against Federer, and probably won.

That is Safin for you.  A loser is someone who comes on  the court expecting defeat.  Well, did you see the match.  He came out a loser and left as one.  Hate the Williams all you want but according to them no one can beat them.  You have to believe you have a change or you could save your time, collect your check and go home.

Well if he said he was going to win, most people would have said he was cocky, so i disagree with the first part, but if he did make those comments about Nadal running around like a rabbit,  then he's an idiot.

i agree. he should have been optimistic at least.safin is very talented but lacks mental strategies. i agree nadal plays wicked groundstrokes and is nice.but anyone who says he will lose 2 federer will lose cuz its the way u r thinking.nadal doesnt run around like a rabbit hes a 4 time french open winner. safin can be an idiot but hes a 2 time grand slam winner and 1st russian 2 reach wimbledon semis

first of all since you're claiming he said all if these things- provide your source because I'd love to read this. Not saying it's not possible but I'd like to read it.

And no I don't agree he's an idiot because an idiot doesn't make it to a semi-final of a major tourney. Just made a few comments that obviously offended some people- mostly fans of players.

Yeah he did blow that tiebreak pretty quickly I was so pissed. We could've at least had a four set match and make Roger work before Sunday. He'll be nice and rested. Nadal better end this quickly instead of dragging his matches on and on with two or three of the sets being tiebreaks. Last year sucked for him with the rain, which won't be a problem today so he better get off the court fast and rest

You're right. I'm sure Safin genuinely believed he had a chance against Federer ... not. Just because you say something, it doesn't mean you believe it. If Safin would've said "I'm going to win", do you think that would change the outcome? Grow up.

I love the guy! He frustrates me, he amuses me, he amazes me when he's playing well. His comments were simply an attempt to take pressure off himself.

If u have seen the clip of the interview u'd know he is just joking... he is the funniest player around the court and even outside the court... and he is humble enuf to say that, unlike some Djoker's comments on how vulnerable Federer is and how much chance he would have to win wimbledon but end up losing like a kid to Safin (IN STRAIGHT SETS). and if u'd watched the match Djokovic make himself really the joker bcos he can't even put on a fight (far from a lion:p under the mighty marat), and at least safin is holding against federer with his strong serves and some fantastic shots and volleys... by knowing that this is the first time he has won 5 matches in a row since 2005 aust open, it isn't hard to imagine why he come out with those words... he is a fantastic guy he doesn't deserve the word "idiot"...
