I was watching this movie called "Idiocracy." and it was set really far into the future and near the beginning of the movie, the landfills were pile thousands and thousands of feet high,

and so it got me thinking that that probably is what will happen in time.

I also read this other thing that was debating wether paper or plastic was better and someone said that in Europe, most people just bring there own bags.

So wouldnt that be alot better for the enviernment? Or whats your opinion on this or on other stuff?

  1. I agree with you 100 percent!

If you really think about it.  If we were to bring our own bags, we would be able to save trees which will remain to continually absorb carbon dioxide, oil from the making, processing and transportation of the bags, and money for the store since they won't have to pay for the bags which in turn pass the savings on to you.

  2. I have been using canvas bags that I take to the grocery store with me since the early 80's.  I think all the plastic grocery bags that are being used is a big waste of resources and money.  Just because the stores provide them to us free of charge does not mean they are costing us nothing.  Canvas bags hold heavy items much better, are easier to carry, and best of all, are reusable.  I have watched, during the past few years, a hugh ravine grow into a mountain from trash.  It makes me feel good to know I am not contributing thousands of plastic grocery bags to the mountain of trash.

  3. h**l yea! We should all carry our own bags. NO MORE PLASTIC!

  4. I completely agree with you, and I have actually been thinking about it since I saw the rack of reusable bags at the grocery store last Wednesday.  There's no reason why we can't use them.  However, many people don't because they don't want to have to remember to bring them to the store or spend the money to buy them when the store gives bags to you for free.  Some people also need the plastic ones for pet f***s, etc.

If everyone replaced at least half their throwaway grocery bags with reusable ones, I think that would be a good compromise.

  5. When I unpack my groceries, I put the cloth bag back into the car for the next trip. If I forget, I use a cardboard box from the store, which can be recycled later (or used for other purposes). Either way, I don't get a new bag each trip.

My trash is reduced to one bin full every 4 or 5 weeks, and is mostly packaging on the various foodstuffs, often two or more layers.  If that could be reduced, it would cut substantially what goes into landfill.

  6. I like paper bags to put my trash in.

  7. the question is not to agree but to force people to do it in this world, people will go on doing what they want untill they are punished for it I personally think that laws against indiscriminate use and distibution of plastics should be made after all , we don't dirty our homes ,do we? then why not adopt the same view towards our world

  8. I already do that so I would have to say yes.

  9. I think we should bring them. I try to remember to bring mine.

  10. To be honest, it really would not make much of a difference if we brought our own bags to the store; because, all the trash generated from the empty and used food containers will be placed in a plastic trash bags and walked to the dumpster.......just my opinion

  11. well, for bags bring your own. It wil save alot of oil and plastic and trees. If every did that, gawd, that would be great! We need to save the planet for our grandchildren
