I used to be a recruiting officer for the Hawk's when Alan Jeans was the coach....he always said Leigh Matthews was the greatest game winner he had ever seen!

  1. I don't

  2. This could be a huge debatable question. Who can really say who is, was or has been the best footballer ever.  Each generation has a few particular stand outs in various positions on the ground in many teams.

Lethal was a terrific player in a team that boasted many terrific players of the time. But what about the other teams?  What of Ian Stewart, Premierships with 2 clubs and 3 Brownlow medals.

Bobby Skilton, no premierships but 3 Brownlows.

Ted Whitten, Alex Jesaulenko, Keith Grieg, Gerard Healy, Kevin Murray, Peter Daicos, Peter Hudson, Royce Hart, Darrel Baldock,

Alistair Lord, Polly Farmer, John Sharrock, Billy Barrott and the list goes on without mentioning Gordon Coventry, Laurie Nash and others.

Yep, Lethal is up there but others can share in the glory too.

  3. i must agree with Dave D but one thing for sure the current players in the Carlton team are by far the worst excuse for a footy team if only 1 player had half the talent as LETHAL they might feel guilty and refund the money people pay to watch the dribble these blokes do every week

  4. Yep i go for hawthorn and he was a great player and he is a very good coach!!!=]

  5. Well I agree with you, because a few years ago they had a huge survey, that included both experts and the public, and they voted for Lethal.

I think Polly Farmer would run a close second.
