Who agrees with my opinion on the Iraq war?

Does this make sense to you? This is my theory on why coalition forces are really in Iraq.

US gave Iraq chemical weapons, when the Shaw fell in Iran, a US backed monarchy, Saddam Hussein invaded Iran and the US gave him chemical weapons and funded his war against the new revolutionary Islamic government of Iran.

The new government in Iran over threw the pro-US government and it wasn’t good for business, so the US backed Iraq in the Iraq-Iran war.

Then the Iraqi’s used the weapons the US gave them to kill the Kurds.

The Turkish have been killing Kurds in a genocide against the Kurdish people due to their terrorist activities vs. southern Turkish settlements in violation of Turkish sovereignty. If the US really cared about the Kurds the US would of invaded Turkey too, but Turkey is a US ally and the US doesn’t care about the Kurds in reality so the US would not invade Turkey.

It was convenient for the US to back Iraq in the Iran-Iraq war so the US could have two pro us governments in the case of Iraq overthrowing the Islamic revolutionary regime. The war ended in 1988 then both Iraq and Iran became anti-US.

I don’t think it was for oil, or for the Kurds.

There is a genocide going on in Rwanda and Kenya that has killed 7 million people in 5 years. No one gives a **** because they are black and there is no ulterior motive to helping them that would benefit the US politically, strategically or economically. No one cares about them because they are black, and for some reason the US politicians don’t value their lives like a Caucasian persons life.

I think it is ridiculous that people believe the US cares about 5000 Kurds the US was responsible for the death of in proxy in 1985. The US gave Iraq the weapons, which they used on the Kurds. If the US really cared about the Kurds they would of invaded right when the genocide happened.

Also I don’t think we care about Oil, the Oil wells were burned when we arrived so we aren’t getting any oil, never did and never will.

It made sense to kill Saddam Hussein really, get some person who objects to the US cause, set up a permanent strategic location to do military operations in the middle east, against Iran, China, Syria, Egypt and India. The whole war is coated in this feel good we care about these people c**p.

We are Americans, and we like to feel good about the evil things we do.

War is never about the people; it’s about the politics of alpha male vs. alpha male, strategic positioning in a region to do military operations and setting up a government that is friendly to your government.

The Invading Country always claims they are invading for the common good, to save the people who are oppressed and what not.

But it doesn’t take a genius to figure out if a populous is truly oppressed they will over throw the oppressive government in a single fierce swipe.

If people really think their situation is bad enough, they will do something about it.

Whenever a nation uses the oppressed excuse to invade another nation, it’s a cover up for a hidden motive.

That is my theory! I am a sophomore in High school by the way.

  1. I think your on the right track.  We want a presence in the Middle East and Iraq was convenient.

The problem with fighting terrorism has always been that they won't stand to fight.  They attack and fade and it makes Armies useless for dealing with them.  Unless you can convince the terrorist to come to the Army.  That is what we did in Iraq.  We originally were going to do it in Afghanistan but  there is nothing our enemies consider worth fighting for there.  Iraq is just significant enough to keep their attention.

If Iraq became an ally then it would have been a bonus but the main idea was to provoke the Muslims who hate us into stupidity. Baghdad is still a significant symbol to them.

Now if I were really jaded I would think there is also some who want a war because one of the few industries we have left in the United States is the war industry (we call it defense) and members of that industry need a war to make money.  But like I say thinking that would be very jaded.

  2. 1. The only assistance the U.S. gave to Iraq during its war with Iran was satellite photo intelligence.

    2. The lethal gas used by Hussein against his own people was produced in a plant within Iraq that was built by European firms.

    3. The repressions against the Kurds date back to the Treaty of Versailles where the Great Powers promised a homeland to the Kurds to be fashioned out of the remains of the Ottoman Empire. That objective was denied when Turkey vetoed the idea.

    4. The U.S. created and carried out protective actions and provision of humanitarian goods to the Kurds in northern Iraq after the UN Peace Enforcement Mission of 1991. It was called Operation Provide Comfort and included U.S. aerial patrol of a "no fly zone" in those northern provinces.

    Good luck in high school.

  4. Unfortunately, there is an overriding principle that some Americans seem to forget:

We don't attack sovereign nations.  Period.

Afghanistan attacked us.  We attacked back.

Iraq attacked us.  We attacked back.

None of the other nations you mentioned as "needing" our invasion have attacked us.  We can't invade.

    How did Iraq attack us?

    1) Attempted assassination of our President (Bush the elder);

    2) Attacks on our troops over the no fly zone between Kuwait and Iraq, repeatedly, for a decade.

    3) Combine that with threats to destroy America, an attack on an ally (Kuwait), paying suicide bombers to kill civilians in Israel publicly, bragging to his allies up to a few months before the invasion that he had WMDs and was going to use them...

...really, the whole argument about attacking your favorite cause with military force is just silly.

We don't do that.  Never have.

  5. pretty d**n simple bush wanted revenge and went to the wrong place now they want us out but umm we shouldnt go out in flocks of thousands that means trouble for us in america

  6. I think you're pretty much accurate, and idiots such as mckenziecalhoun really should get their facts straight before posting answers. Afghanistan DID NOT attack the USA. Iraq DID NOT attack the USA. The terrorists involved in the Sept 11th attacks were almost all Saudis-why are there no cries for a war against Saudi Arabia?

The only weapons of mass destruction Saddam had were the ones supplied to him by the British & US governments, ie the chemical weapons he used on the Kurds and the Iranians. If you don't believe me, check the Library of Congress, it's all on record. The US government has long had an aggressive foreign policy, especially towards oil rich states. There have been dozens of foreign leaders removed either covertly or directly by the USA since the end of WW2 alone, so get your head out of your @rse and don't tell me the USA doesn't attack sovereign nations. It does precious little else.

  7. I absolutely disagree. Your theory doesn't make sense.

Iraq was in constant violation of UN sanctions.
