Who agrees with this statement?

In the WWE, I think that the greatness of the superstars is not only determined by their wrestling skills, but mainly by their public speaking skills. I think thats why they brought in Tony Atlas to speak for Mark Henry. Opinion?

I don't agree...

OK, I won't open the topic again we all know what he did and I (as a former fan) strongly disagree and lost all respect I once had for him. But look on the wrestling point of view. Chris Benoit was a great wrestler and had lots of fans, but he hardly even had speaking skills. In fact, on the 15 years I fiollowed him (Wild Pegasus) I think I only listened him speak twice: When he beat Orlando Jordan in 23 seconds and when Eddie died.

Selling your character is very important in the business, and yes, the attitude helps a lot. But not the public speaking skills. RVD is an amazing wrestler and hardly even speaks. You don't have to be The Rock to achieve a high standard.

as a mid-card to lower card, mic skills are not important, but if you want a championship or a more substantial role in the wwe, you have to have good mic skills.

To answer I give you 2 examples....Shelton Benjamin and RVD.

GREAT performers physically. TV's shut off or head for ANYTHING else when they speak (spoke in RVD's present case).

Mic skills are essential to a champion. Jericho, Rock, Austin, HBK, Taker, Foley, Edge, even Punk...all can cut the crowd with the stick in their hand. People bought into Shane McMahon as a performer not only cause he was fearless...but because he could sell, sell sell himself

I think that the mic skills are quite important but you don't need mic skills to be great. e.g The Undertaker

I agree that mic skills are very important right up there with wrestling skills as far as "sports entertainment" goes.

It is helpful for the wrestler when they have no mic skill to bring in a manager. This is most effective when its a monster heel like Henry.
