I have seen Dana tear into some guys a*s's for way less than that. What do you think? I think all the good stuff was cut short.

  1. Yeah i didnt think that was to bad, especially if he lets him fight in the ufc at some point. The fact that he was yelling that he was a ufc fighter probably did him in more than anything, announcing that when your obviously causing trouble and its not really offcial yet is a big issue. I wouldnt let him fight in the ufc at all for years at least.

  2. I think Jesse caught him on a good day. As far as not flipping out.

Plus you have to think, Dana probably had a good day or two to calm down for it, to bring Jesse in and all decide what he wants to do and set everything up.

Additionally, it is hard to get so incredibly pissed at someone who obviously has a problem. Plus hard to go crazy on a guy when he is crying, and frankly is as dumb as a box of rocks.

I think in that circumstance, you don't even need to cuss out a guy like that. The simple fact that he just blew the biggest opportunity of his life should be enough gravity and punishment that you don't have to flip your top and scream at him. It is almost worst on him to just calmly tell him that it is over.

But I was surprised at Dana's sympathy for the kid. I mean he asked him to call him later and all (I am betting Dana doesn't take that phone call) probably because the guy really realized out the gate just how bad he screwed himself over.

I was really surprised that Dana and them didn't mention that he should get some counselling. The kid obviously has a problem with the drink.

But kicking him out of the UFC is a pretty d**n big deal. I mean that alone is enough in my book, you don't have to cuss the guy out and make him feel even crappier than he is already feeling. Just give him the news, walk him out and be done with it.

Jesse Taylor obviously needs to think about entering a program and not drinking, since he obviously loses control.

(also for some of you other posters... going crazy on Security and yelling you are a UFC fighter when staying at a Ferttita owned Hotel/Casino is probably a really bad idea.... the Palms are owned by the Ferttitas the owners of the UFC... thereby making Jesse's actions even more dumb)

  3. I think he felt sorry for him so he laid off on the tearing apart.  Personally though I never seen anyone be suspended from a sport for what JT did.  That was awkward.   I though JT was going to do something much worse.

Maybe they didn't want to say the full extend of what JT did becuase of how embarassing it was.  I dont know.  I cant say I am upset, I thought JT was an idiot the entire show.  His fights were always really boring to.

  4. It's like ruling someone insane for a crime, it's not jesse's fault that he's emotional and dumb. i think dana either felt sorry for him or was scared he'd attack him.

  5. Dana is a professional and knows how to talk to his people and fighters in general.  JT is still young, I think dana feels confident that he will come back with more focus and better than ever...he deserves a second chance.

  6. totally soft.. he`s loosing it`s grip..

  7. No, I don't think he has gone soft.

Just an update from spiketv.com's interview with Jesse.

    - He is now in AA and his quit drinking.

    - He has called Dana back (3 weeks after the show) and Dana didnt take his call.  Editorial:  I wouldnt either this soon, it's like he thinks, "ok, i'm in AA so I've got it together, let me back in".

    - He is training.  He still believes that the punishment was too severe and that he deserves to be on the finale because he beat 4 guys to "earn" that shot at the 6 figure contract.  (Editorial - I think he needs to forget this and admit the punishment was justified)

    - He predicts that C.B. will win the rematch, but he want Amir to win.

    James

  8. Speaking as someone who has had a drinking problem, even though I never destroyed anything, yelling at him would not have helped anything, and I am glad that Dana realized that. As Judo said there could be no worse punishment then realizing that it cost him the biggest oppurtunity of his life. Maybe this will make him realize that he needs help with his problem, and force him to get it.

In the long run it may be the best thing that could have happened to him. I am sure that with as talented as he is, if he can get his act together, we will probably see him in the UFC at some future point. I realize that this took place after the show was over, but I even question the wisdom of providing alchahol to the fighters while they are in the house. Then again, alchahol is responsible for most of the highlights on the show that are not in the ring.
