Born in the British Isles, he made his debut against England scoring a century in the first innings. He cover-drove Harold Larwood for 4 when he was on 97 to reach his maiden ton.

His cousin has captained Liverpool FC, and his uncle has represented Newcastle United, (Woolwich)Arsenal, Rangers, West Ham United etc, and his namesake cousin had played for Sunderland & Tranmere Rovers.

Come on, guys, rake your brains, 'cos nothing here is a definitive lead, but certainly you have heard of this player. And it is well before our times. He is a legend. His 100 on debut had more significance when it was scored.
