  1. I make $2.34/ hr, I also understand that you are paying an outrageous amount of money for you food. But, even the rich pay for services, like butlers, maids, chefs, etc. In this case we are your personal servants. We set and clean the tables, bring you food, condiments, drinks, and do it all with a smile. And in your case probably not ever see a tip!

  2. the reason tipping started was to promote good service.. people back in the day said that if they paid more than normal they'd get better service

  3. I'm not sure. But tipping is not true in other countries.

  4. I am a waitress that gets paid $3/hour so I depend on my tips.  You must have never served people because then you would know how you run your butt off for some people. Your meal would probably be a whole lot more expensive if the companies had to pay more. The waitresses are 1/2 of what makes a person go back to the eating establishment.  Please don't come to my place of employment..he he

  5. I agree with you, the staff should be paid what they are getting now with tips by the restaurant directly. Tips should just be for good service. I hate having to shell out 15% more just because, but I ALWAYS tip.

  6. Pay workers what they deserve; and waiters, waitresses deserve a good hourly rate for what they do. I'd love to see tipping stopped.

  7. Well...You dont have to tip pple where i live its jst if you think they were a good waiter/waitress and trust me wen your a waitress tips count b/c waitress get paid between $3.15 - $5.85 an hour here its not much

  8. The term "Tip", means To Insure Promptness.

It also gives waiters and waitresses incentive to give you better service.  The percentage of the tip (as opposed to the price of the meal) is directly proportional to the friendliness of the servers.

  9. It improves customer service. If waitstaff got paid the same no matter how they treated customers then they would all be jerks because that is a hard job!

  10. I think tipping is an incentive for the server to make the customer happy...the nicer you are the more money you make.  I look it kinda like a bonus program.  I don't mind paying someone to be at my beck and call for an entire meal.

To all of the servers out there....Thank you for busting your behind so I can have a pleasant evening out and eat my food while its hot! (if you are a mother you know what I am talking about)

  11. Life balances out. If the restaurants paid the waitresses more they'd charge more for the food. I don't mind tipping, and in fact rather like having some say in who waits on me and what they're paid. I don't mean that in any "controlling" manner, either . . . I always tip well, but do like to tip some better than others.

  12. i only tip if i can take the waitress home

  13. You should be a server, and see how it feels...
