  1. Considering marks and spencer sell a lot of different products, that's a long list of competitors. Marks and spencer are best known for there clothes, so anywhere like BHS, Debenhams, Derry's, House of Fraser, as well as the smaller clothes shops, Next, Oasis, even places like River Island will cause a small threat to marks and Spencer's business. Then there the food side, so Waitrose are the closets to M&S, with Sainsburys taking the rear. ALso places like Tesco and Morrison's.

  2. different competitors for different products, e.g. Cotton Traders are a competitor in their clothes, John Lewis competitor in their home accessories, Waitrose competitor in food

  3. They don't have any one store that is a competitor - the ones you have named are supermarkets that carry a small range of clothing and other products.  Marks & Spencer is a clothing store first and foremost - that's where they make most of their money - whereas food is of secondary importance.

BHS is probably the closest thing they have to a competitor but aside from that I can't think of one.

  4. BHS,  Selfridges and John Lewis. There are more but i forgot
