  1. People living in Council houses, and renting off the council.

    Usually those people on benefits.

I KNOW that not everyone in council houses is out of work, I was just giving a generalisation based on my own experiences. Where I live there are 3 very large council estates, and believe me most are on benefits.

Also I was saying that most people on benefits live in council houses, not the other way around. You show me how many on benefits can afford a mortgage or private tenancy.

  2. NOT ME

I live on a street that used to be all council houses there are only 5 out of 28 houses with council tenants in them two families with 5 children one family with 3 kids and one

with two kids and one with oaps all of which dont work

excluding the oaps does this tell you something

  3. Siegy 20, there are a lot of people still in council property who do work.

True if you are out of work with a family you live c/tax & rent free.

  4. Council tenants rent their homes from the council. Homeowners have either bought theirs from the council or another home owner.

Private tenants rent from those who have bought a home.

  5. People who rent from a local council, pay rent same as private though not as much, as council rents are considerably lower. Called social housing, council housing.

spiegy   i knew someone would say those that don't work, you are wrong, have a look around.
