I decided to give up on music to concentrate on my poetry. I'm an aspiring poet. I've been writing poetry since I entered high school and I might be looking forward to having a career in it. But I would like to know anyone's opinion on who's more fun to talk to and get to know.

  1. I like musicians because I am one myself.

But poets can be cool too.

How does one go about making a career in poetry? I mean, is there really a market for that?

  2. No offense, but the only person more annoying than a poet, is a mime.  : )

I'd go with musician, hands down.

  3. Musicians do have a better career (well, if the musician goes on tour and is like John Mayer or somebody). My mom says that musicians are moody-I guess she's including me when she says this-and I've come to realize that some of them are. Don't know why exactly. But they're fun to get to know and chat with about anything.

I took a creative writing class last semester in college, and a local poet came in to talk to us. He was just a regular person with a really good way with words and great sense of humor. I liked his personality. But poets can get very intellectual (because of what they write), and it's hard to understand the big words they say sometime, but the imagery that they use in their speech is amazing.

Don't make me choose haha!! Professions put aside, both groups are not so different and are normal people.

I'm neutral. Sorry, I know my answer didn't help since you wanted us to choose. :-)
