There is some dispute that Carlos Gardel, very famous Tango Singer,  was born in Uruguay.....other say France...

Regardless...he was raised in Argentina....

We have to differenciate if you are asking about the present......or about all the time since the Republic was created.

Actresses.. China Zorrilla, Dadh Sfeir, Estela Medina

Politicians.. Unluckily, i dont find anyone that could be really important..may be Enrique Iglesias, occupying   charges inside international organizations.(i have to say that Jose Artigas, was not a politician, he was a  great soldier and became the National hero of Uruguay, and Gregorio Alvarez, wasnt a politician either, he was a soldier that became a dictator in the 70's)

Sports... Enzo Francescolli football player that had been
