Consider batting average, rbi's, home runs, O.B.P., O.P.S., slugging %, "clutchness", batting big in big situations, everything together. Also, which stat is most important? Which above all of the others indicates a truly great hitter? For my money, it's ops. But i could be wrong. Who are your top 5 from each league, and why?

  1. AL.

Joe Mauer (The guy can flat out hit.)

Josh Hamilton (Look at his stats)

Ichiro (What more can I say)

Carlos Quentin (Power and Contact will be great one day)

Ian Kinsler (I think he has the chance to be an all star every year)

    NL.

    Albert Pujols (Tears the ball)

    Matt Holliday (Power with contact)

Chipper Jones (Future HOF cause of his hitting)

Lance Berkman (This guy puts out great power)

    Hanley Ramirez (Can do everything)

  2. AL

    1. Joe Mauer (I just love his approach)

    2. Alex Rodriguez

    3. Josh Hamilton

    4. Ichiro Suzuki

    5. Kevin Youkilis

    NL

    1. Albert Pujols (Best in MLB)

    2. Chipper Jones

    3. Matt Holliday

    4. Lance Berkman

    5. Alfonso Soriano

  3. NL

Matt Holliday-Been batting .340 for like two years now

Albert Pujols-.330 year in, year out aint hard for this hitter

    David Wright-All around star

    Lance Berkman-.Great .330+ hitter

Carlos Lee-Mr. RBI Machine, 100 RBI every year it seems and .300 to boot.

And I agree I think OPS is very important.  On base plus how many bases are each hit.  You could pound singles only all the time, but home run hitters i will of course be more prized.

    AL

Alex Rodriguez-Home run power and better than .310

Josh Hamilton-Can hit for decent avg and power, RBI magnet

    David Ortiz-Power/Avg hitter, clutch too

Ichiro Suzuki-clutch, great speed helps pound out infield hits.  200+ hits in every year in his MLB career

Ian Kinsler-Up and coming, i know, but he can hit for avg. and provide some power.

  4. AL:

Ichiro (if anybody can hit .400 its this guy)

Joe Mauer (Scouts say he has the Purest Swing they've seen in a long time)

    A-Rod

    Josh Hamilton

Vlad Guerrero (I don't like him, but he can hit the ball 2 ft. out of the strike zone)

    NL:

Lance Berkman (this guy has good swing)

    Albert Pujols

    Ryan Braun

    David Wright

    Manny Ramirez

  5. NL

    Albert Pujols

    David Wright

    Jose Reyes

    Ryan Howard

    Lance Berkman

    AL

    Alex Rodriguez

    Jose Hamilton

    Joe Mauer

    Dustin Pedroia

    Grady Sizemore

  6. go to fox sports .com type stats MLB they have everything  in there you need

  7. I can't really name the best hitters in both leagues, but in my opinion two of the most underrated players in either leagues are Aubrey Huff and Nick Markakis of the Orioles. Huff has over 20 home runs and could have more, and can hit it anywhere in the park. Markakis has just under 20 home runs, but is the most consistent hitter i have seen in my life. He is currently batting over .300, and could be considered the most reliable hitter in the game today.

  8. NL

    1.Chipper Jones

    2. Matt Holiday

    3. Chase Utley

    4. Lance Berkman

    5. David Wright

    Al

    1.Josh Hamilton

    2.Carlos Quinton

    3.Jermaine Dye

    4. Joe Mauer

    5. Ian Kinsler
