Who are the ATP's more overrated players?

For my money, Gasquet is the most overrated player out there now: Major underachiever, no mental strength, phenomenal backhand but mediocre forehand and serve. Murray ranks as #2 in my mind. Why does everyone say he's such a phenomenal talent. He's a decent well-rounded all court player, but has no fire power or weapons, too defensive, and is mentally not very strong. Safin, Baghdatis, and Berdych also come to mind. Any thoughts?

  1. djokovic, gasquet

  2. I have only begun to seriously watch tennis after I began playing myself 3 years ago.  Before that, I did not understand the strategy and the "art" and depth of the game.  From my limited experience, it is my opinion that most professional players nowadays lack mental strength and grit.  I see too many players choke under pressure.  Other than the top three or four players, I see a pretty weak field of competition.  I think James Blake is pretty overrated.  He chokes a lot, and against much lower seeded players.  As a fan, I'd like to see a new Pete Sampras or Andre Agassi take the field and make ATP tennis more fun to watch.

  3. i tottally agree with you about gasquet, he just doesn't have a nerv,

murray, berdych and could be too, but safin i don't think so, not at all, he's won two slams, and he's capable of playing amazing tennis, even though latelly he hasn't, maybe i'm a dreamer, but i keep waiting for him to come back and win a lot.-

and there's davydenko, not that he can't play, but every time i wonder how the hech is he number 4!!

  4. roddick, blake, djokovic!
