Who are the Great inventors of our time?

Divinci, Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Edison were all great inventors of the past. However today, you don't hear of anyone really being an inventor because they work for corporations which take credit for the inventions. Are there any great inventors from the recent decades (Lets say from the 90's until the present). who are independent and don't work for large corporations.

Yes, you are right.  I know about the great innovators, but I don't remember their names.  Maybe, because we have narrowed our discipline scope so much, we can only innovate within such a small spectrum.  Our scope of expertise cannot replicate the diverse accomplishments and interdisciplinary expertise of a DaVinci or a Franklin.

For example, a gentleman in Europe created the world wide web, but I don't remember his name.  He became just one name among thousands who made a small but important contribution to the utility and scope of the Internet.

YES YOU ARE RIGHT BECAUSE WHEN I WAS STUDING ABOUT INVENTORS IN COLLAGE THEY WERE VERY POPULAR
