i dont really care who they get, honestly they could sign my mother and she would swing the stick better than he ever could, the worst offensive catcher in the game today, also deffensivley he is also ovverated, yes he calls a good game but his runner caught percentage is less than 30% thats not real good.

Kevin Cash is currently the backup catcher and I suspect that he'll replace Varitek as the regular catcher after he retires.

However, in the Minors, the Red Sox also have Dusty Brown and George Kottaras who would be ready to step up if they were needed.

Who knows cash is the current back up but they dont have any plans to replace him anytime soon

They'll probably wait to see what the market is but it'll probably be Yadier Molina from the Cardinals.
