Who are the Suremi race or tribe?

I heard in Amsterdam some they call themselves to be origin from Suremi. But can't find any referrence about the Suremi origin.

  1. My guess is you got the name wrong. Most likely the name was Surinam, former Netherlands Guyana in South America, smallest country and the most prolonged Dutch Colony in South America. Surinam gained independence form Netherlands in 1975.
