Who are the best players right now in the free agency that a team could sign?

The BEST player would be Mats Sundin. Then possibly Teemu Selanne, Joe Sakic, and Peter Forsburg.

But Sakic and Forsburg might go back to Colorado while Selanne might choose to retire. Mats Sundin is considering Montreal, Toronto, Vancouver, or retirement.

But the rest are pretty much gone.

At this point all the best players have been signed at the Tier 1 and some in Tier 2.

Now since we are at Tire 3 the players rank from decent to won't be returning to the NHL anymore!!!

People neglected to mention some RFAs...(although the parent team couldmatch and if they didnt it would cost your team draft picks varying on the amount the contract was signed for)

As far as UFAs

I would say Nagy, Sundin and Shanahan.

Nagy was injured most of last season, but had almost one point per game when he wasn't.

Sundin and Shanahan for obvious reasons.

That's not including players like Selanne or Sakic who will only come back to one team.

Mats Sundin, Glen Murray, and Brendan Shanahan are probably the best of the remaining free agents with Shanahan being the best of the three. When healthy he could still score a lot of goals and still has one of the most feared wrist shots in the game.

No question Teemu Selanne is the best player available.. Sorry Sundin fans..  However Selanne is really on a UFA since he has said he would only play with the Ducks and looks like he will sign as soon as Schneider is traded.

    Forsberg is not an option for any team right now.  Joe S. is also on the list.. not sure what is going on with him.
