  1. Thanks for the reference, straight_shooter.  I have no certification for teaching, but I'll give my friends hints and tips here and there.  There's a house pro at Boston Billiards Club named Ken Young.  He used to run a pool school thing on Mondays, but it's random so you never know how many people will show up.  He may do private lessons if you schedule it with him, but I'm not sure.

Otherwise, Scott Lee should be making a trip back this way soon.  He's a great instructor, and BCA certified.  He's based in Michigan but makes quite a few road trips.  I took a lesson from him when he came through last fall.

Shoot me an email if you want to get together and hit around a bit.  And I'll let you know if I find out more about Scott's schedule.

  2. I've looked on the BCA (Billiard Congress of America) website and I found 4 instructors is the state of MA.  There are about 150 of us in the world.  I'm not familiar with this part of the country, so I don't know how close any of these cities are to Boston.  Here are the 4 instructors that I found and their contact information.

    -------

    Calvin Moore / Ayer, MA / (978) 784-4225 / calvinm@moorelumber.com

    Clyde Dottin / Framington, MA / (508) 877-0741 / clydedottin@yahoo.com

    Roy Pastor / Harvard, MA / (978) 456-8710 / paparoy@charter.net

    James Auger / Sterling, MA / (508) 414-7722 / jamesauger@verizon.net

    -------

These are just the ones that are in your state.  There are more in neighboring states.  I didn't see any in the city of Boston.  You might need to leave town to find a BCA certified instructor.  Now, you might be able to find an instructor in the city who is not BCA certified.  I'm not saying that BCA certification is everything, but it really does carry with it a great deal of ligitimacy.  All BCA instructors have specific requirements to obtain and maintain certification.  I'll give you the link to the BCA website.  The entire list of active instructors is there, organized by state.  Best of luck.  M.D.-BCA Instructor/Referee.

P.S. I just checked out trickshottim's website.  He is based in Boston.  He's been a regular answerer here lately and he strikes me as being very knowledgeable.  I don't know if he teaches pool, but I'll bet he knows some people in the area who would.  I'll add the link to his website.
