  1. actually, i don't think avery is a bad person off the ice.

have you seen that thing wtih him at vogue?

anyways, i think tie domi is probably a bad person. didn't he assault his son's coach for not giving him enough ice time?

and i think jason blake is an extremely nice guy. when i was at the NHL Awards this year, he was the only person who made sure that EVERYONE got an autograph. he kept on assuring fans like, okay, just wait, i'm coming. he was super nice.

  2. Terry Crisp, Outstanding guy you got to watch him He'll talk your head off.

  3. Bobby Clarke was a super nice guy, but I think ya'll know the story already.

    For those who don't:

A friend of Bobby had gotten in touch with a friend of mine who has done wonders for ice hockey in South Texas, and word got out that Clarkie was going to be down here for part of the winter so we invited him to play hockey with us. I had a chance to be on his team as we played a game of hockey on March 17th 2008.

My aviator is my part of the picture of him and I taken in the rink proshop afterwards

What else do ya wanna know, what kinda beer did we have while chatting afterwards? Bud Light (not my beer of choice - but the hosers had paid for it and there were extras)

  4. I'd say one of the nicest is Joe Thornton. Ever see a clip of when he actually let a fan take a picture of him during a game? Although I'm not sure if that counts as off the ice.

  5. Players I have personally met... cool guys were definitely Eric Dejardins, Keith Primeau and John Leclair.

Now, as far as a total jerkoff was Brodeur and Brind'Amour. now, with Brodeur (and this was 99/00) if he wasn't so d**n good he would've got the "you suck anyways", but I really couldn't pull that one off.

  6. Krik Maltby is definitely the nicest player I've ever met.

    Jerome Iginla, Nicklas Lidstrom...

Paul Coffee- he was awesome... I went up to the NHL awards, and he was a really nice guy.

But, I have to say Chelios is kind of a grump, but when you get to know him (I've played hockey with one of his kids)- he's really friendly.

  7. Well, I've some across a lot of the guys on the Avs, and all but one or two has been great.

Adam Foot seems like a really nice family man, so does Ian Laperriere. I've seen them both with their kids, and it's very sweet. Believe it or not, the fighters are always the nicest guys.

Kurt Sauer seems like a really good guy, and Ben Guite, Scoot parker seems like  a real softy, and Patrice Briboise seems like a very gentle type of guy. Karlis Skrastins was very nice, just a very warm type of person. Brett McLean seemed very nice, and easy going most of the time. Brett Clark is super nice, he once helped me with what i was holding to get signed....he's just really nice, such a regular guy. MIlan Hejduk is very nice, he's easy to be around.

I mean, I could spend a lot of time talking about all of these different guys, but it might be kinda boring. So, to answer your Q, from what I've seen, most of the hockey players in the NHL are really nice guys.

  8. All of our Lightning guys are awesome! Lecavalier is beyond awesome. He does hate to sign in his car though. He had an accident one year with his car, a kid, and a hockey stick. You can only imagine. Dan Boyle is probably the greatest signer. He would sign anything you gave him, at anytime. Same goes for Brad Lukowich. I have met them all several times. The only one I can think of that I never really saw sign too much is Brad Richards. I have only met him 3 times and once was at an actual autograph signing. Another time was at a Lightning lunch that you bid for to get in. The 3rd time was during the 2004 Stanley Cup year. I have gone to many practices after that year too. All of the younger guys are awesome too.

  9. If you wanna meet someone nice meet Paul Kariya he takes the time to talk to you.

If you wanna meet a prick meet Ray Emery he has no patients for kids or teens.

  10. Nice guys I met off ice are Jeremy Roenick, Teemu Selanne, Scott Stevens, sammy kapanen amd Joe Sakic.

Biggest douche in the world: Ray Bourque, man he was a mean a*****e prick.

  11. Good eggs I've met: Brett Hull (thank you, and you're welcome), Brendan Shanahan, Grant Fuhr, Jeff Friesen, and (this hurts being a Leafs fan), referee Kerry Fraser (honestly, incredibly nice and outgoing),  Andrew Raycroft, Gary Valk.

Jerks I've met: Barry Melrose gets the gold medal.  The "do you know who I am" line, dropping the c-bomb on a woman (when it was completely uncalled for), and an overstated sense of self.  Acting like a big-time charlie to minions...not impressive at all.

  12. Matthew Barnaby was surprisingly nice. I played hockey with his son and he gave me a few pointers and signed my stick.

Adam Graves was by far the nicest man I've met. He was just such a kind and generous man who took the time to actually talk to people and not just sign their stuff and say mhm to everything.

  13. Pretty much 99% of the Thrashers are great guys. We're very fortunate in that team practices are open to the public and these guys, every practice, take time after getting off the ice to sign autographs before heading back to the lockerrooms. The only negative thing they've ever said about it was not allowing fans access to their cars (which is justifiable for lots of reasons). I've also met many of them at team sponsored events and while you know they are there to "make nice" they are truly sincere about it. Plus when they do the casino nights the players (who are the dealers) help you cheat like crazy. :D

I'd say the only exception was Bobby Holik - he was a total stiff at team functions and a borderline to complete jerk at other times. Makes me so glad he's gone. :)
