Who are the highest paid security guards?
Tags:
Pay scales for guards differ with varying employers, with different industries and in different parts of the country. However, the average initial wages for guards with little or no experience are minimum wage to $12.00 an hour. Wages for experienced guards are $12.00 to $19.50. Armed guards are the ones who mostly earn more money than unarmed guards. Fees paid to guard services vary from about $25 to $30/hr for a regular trained guard up to $40 to $50/hr for an armed guard.

Most armed guards get $10-$18 per hour depending on the location or contract. The highest paid guards are usually contractors with the Federal Government. In Alameda County an armed guard on federal facility currently is $30 per hour not including other benifets the Federal Government benifits that contract companies must pay their employees. I am a supervisor and after my base pay and benifites plus Captains pay I top out at $40 per hour. Not to mention if I work over 8 hours in a day I get time and a half extra added to my base pay. Check out the Department of Labor and Wages for exact pay wages in your county. I think Alameda County is the highest in Califonia. Some of the sites in Alameda County that pay these wages are: The Coast Guard Island, any Federal Court House, Oakland Airport Control Tower, The FAA in Fremont and just about any other facility controld by the Government.
