  1. The youngest ever Olympian is Greek gymnast Dimitrios Loundras, who competed in the 1896 Athens Olympics. He was 10 years old.

    Oscar Swahn was 72 years old when he competed in the 1920 Olympic games and he won a silver medal in shooting. He was from Sweden.


  2. In the 2008 XXIX Olympic Games, the oldest participant is 67-year-old Hiroshi Hoketsu, a dressage rider for the Japanese equestrian team.

    The youngest contestant is 12 year old Antoinette Joyce Guedia Mouaffo of Cameroon, who competed in the women's 50 meter freestyle event. She finished fourth in her preliminary heat and did not qualify for further competition.  The official Olympics website lists her birthdate as October 21, 1995.
