  1. The POTUS is officially elected by electors, who in turn are voted for by us.  Electors are chosen by the party who won that state, and are usually long- time members of that party who're chosen as an honor.  They're so loyal that it's just a formality today.

  2. delegates and superdelegates, which we award each candidate.

  3. the electoral college

  4. electoral college delegates

  5. The electors; they form the Electoral College. The number per state is calculated by a formula related to the number of members of Congress the state has.

When you vote in November, you are really electing the electors, who will (in most states) then be bound to vote for the Presidential and Vice Presidential candidate that wins the popular vote in the state. However, 'faithless' electors have voted their own conscience in the past, instead of following the will of the people of the state.
