  1. Tyson-was a bully who faced some decent fighters but whose greatest attribute was intimidation.  When Douglas exposed him and Holyfield dominated him he was done.

Ali-40 years after he decided not to enlist he is still hated by those who did.

Mayweather-he avoids the best fighters in his division.  His retirement is a ploy for more big paydays.

John Ruiz-He is the most boring fighter in the history of heavyweight boxing.

Larry Holmes-Had the unfortunate event of being champ after Ali.  He also put his foot in his mouth every time he opened it.

The Klitschko brothers-they don't have enough popularity to unify the title.  Either through injuries or poor management they can't claim a unified belt

  2. The coward paper champ Floyd "Chicken" Gayweather.

  3. 1) The most unpopular at the time that he fought was Jack Johnson. Alot of Whites hated him and he openly taunted them. I'm surprised he didn't get killed.

    2) Mike Tyson for obvious reasons

    3) Sonny Liston was viewed as a bit of a thug by some

    4) Oscar De La Hoya by all the haters who think their jealousy isn't transparent(obvious)

    5)  Muhammad Ali was disliked by almost as many people that liked him because he avoided the draft and because of his boasting

    6) Larry Holmes because he had the misfortune to reign after the Ali era

    7) Hector "Macho" Camacho because of his safety first style and his antics

    8) Cuban Olympic boxers as a whole, because they are grown men fighting our teenagers and they show disdain for our country

    9) Max Schmeling, a great human being who was wrongfully seen as representative of n**i Germany

10)Tony Galento because of his dirty tactics

And I'm going to throw in # 11 just for laughs: Senator Barbara Boxer from California who is hated because of her politics.

  4. This question is hard to answer because mostly I can name journeyman but I can name a former champion and contender who is not popular with me but he is still getting title shots.

    - John Ruiz - He clutches to much and talks way too much and his skills do not back it up like that.

  5. ~ mike tyson, going to jail, throwing bricks at cameramen, acting like a jerk on tv, saying nonsensical things,

~ gene tunney, was never forgiven for beating jack dempsey, and was never appreciated 'till years later

~jack johnson, commited 2 series crimes at the time...married a white woman, and had the audacity to win the heavyweight championship.....for shame!

~ jack sharkey, was known to have thrown fights, and eyebrows were raised when he lost the belt to carnera, who he had previously outclassed.

~ floyd patterson, defended against "not great" competetion, including a guy making his pro debut.

~ mysterious billy smith, one of the dirtiest fighters of all time

~ floyd mayweather jr, sometimes his boxing skills would be overlooked in favour of his attitude.

~ chris eubank, recieved a few gifted decisions during his reign as middle & super middleweight champ, told anyone who cared to listen how he hated the sport which made him wealthy (for a while), his eccentricity and the current adoption scandal surrounding him.

~ roberto duran,  became unpopular after "no mas", redeemed himself against davey moore, and became hot and cold from the hearns fight onwards.

~ muhammad ali, was unpopular among many for....his brashness, his political views, his convesion to islam, his name calling and insulting of opponents, his biggotery, and the way he made patterson and terell suffer during their fights in the '60s.

  6. Larry Holmes, Reylondo Snipes, Billy Costello, Tyrell Biggs, Joey Gamanche, Michael Oladjade, Michael Nunn, Lalia Ali. This is all I can come up with right now. Just writing these names makes me unpopular.

  7. John Ruiz - Horribly boring fighter who never really won a title and had all his titles given or bought for him. A punch and hold horribly awkward heavyweight who is probably one of the worst champions of all time.

Joey Maxim - His win over Robinson made him very unpopular for the way it ended.

Bruce Seldon - After the wind from Mike Tysons punch knocked him out and his crying fit in the locker room afterward made people pitty and hate Seldon for having no balls and no guts. People hated paying all that money to see a guy take a dive.

Sonny Liston - After beating Floyd Patterson and becoming the world heavyweight champion, on his arrival back to Philly the champ expected a big crowd to welcome him at the airport and celebrate his victory like all the champions before him, No one showed up.

Larry Holmes - Although he is considered by many one of the best heavyweight of all time, he is still hated for his destruction of Muhammad Ali and his ego in and out of the ring.

Vernon Forrest - An excellent but boring fighter who did nothing else in his career but beat Mosley and put a big dent and slowed the division for years because of his upset. Then getting knocked out against Mayorga made Forrest one of the biggest spoilers in boxing

    history.

Mitch Green: Who? exactly. After running his mouth at Tyson in a night club, Mike clocked Green and made him look like a *****, his career was pretty much over after the incident.

Gene Tunney - Although he was better then Dempsey and was in his time one of the best heavyweights of all time he was hated for beating Americas blue collar hero Jack Dempsey. Things worsened when people believed he was saved by a long count. He is often left out of Top 10 heavyweights list even though he was leagues better then most of his counterparts.

Prince Naseem Hamed: People bought his fights just to see him get his *** kicked. When he was exposed by Barerra everyone lost interest and he could barley sell out an arena in his home town.

  8. Jack Johnson:  because he smiled when he beat a white fighter.

Max Schmeling:  unwillingly became a symbol of n**i supremecism.

I'll have to come up with 9 more later
