  1. 1.  Archie Moore- It was amazing that he could become champion and remain champ for so long well into his 40s.  He never shied away from fighting the best at light heavyweight or heavyweight.

    2.  Roy Jones, Jr.- One of the most naturally gifted fighters of all time.  In his prime, I don't think anyone (except Moore) could have beaten him at 175.

    3.  Bob Foster- He never lost a light heavyweight title fight and he defended his title against the best of the era.  He has got to be considered one of the hardest hitting light heavyweights of all time.

    4.  Maxie Rosenbloom- A very underrated three time champion that always fought the best and compiled an amazing record.

    5.  Michael Spinks/Billy Conn (tie)- Spinks was a very dominant champion at light heavyweight, and he never lost at that weight.  He beat many other great light heavyweights when he was champ...  Conn never lost a light heavyweight title fight and fought other great champions and contenders as light heavyweight and almost succeeded in beating Joe Louis.

  2. 1) Archie Moore

    2) Bob Foster

    3) Michael Spinks

    4) Gene Tunney - yes he fought the majority of his career as a light heavy, and brilliantly at this weight.

    5) Ezzard Charles - Ditto to the comment about Tunney. Was so feared at this weight he never received a title shot.

  3. 1. Muhammad Ali

    2. Joe Louis

    3. Mike Tyson

    4. Sugar Ray Robinson

    5. Sonny Liston

    lol... jk

  4. Roy Jones Jr. Michael Spinks Archie Moore Bob Foster and Bobby Czyz

    5, Roy Jones Jr

  6. 1.  Ezzard Charles

    4 bob foster

    5 billy conn

  9. roy jones jr,michael spinks,bob foster,archie moore,gene tunney

  10. Ezzard Charles: By far he's number one even though he never held the title at 175.  Ezzard had it all as a fighter.

Roy Jones Jr:  Forget his recent losses,  and realize they were more the result of his return to 175.  At his best Roy was near untouchable.  Who could cope with his blend of speed, power and talent?  Not many.

Archie Moore: Old Archie usually found a way to win.  He would be just a tad too slow to cope with Roy and would not have enough tools to deal with Ezzard.   He has enough to beat anyone else.

Gene Tunney:  Another who never held the title but he did fight here.  Mobile boxers are the most difficlut to beat and Gene was among the best of that type.

Michael Spinks/Bob Foster:  What one can do the other can do as well.  Bob might be a bit faster

Somehow I missed your welterweight question so allow me to add my 2 cents here.

    Henry Armstrong

    Sugar Ray Leonard

  11. Ezzard Charles

    Gene Tunney

  12. Good question sir.  Gene Tunney and Ezzard Charles are easily two of the greatest light heavyweights of all time but neither ever won a light heavyweight championship as they moved up to heavyweight and became heavyweight champs.  My top 5 is always former champs so here goes:

    1.  Archie Moore

    2.  Bob Foster

    3.  Michael Spinks

    4.  Billy Conn

    5.  Jose Torres

  13. 1)  Archie Moore (more KO's than anyone else in history)

    2)  Bob Foster (killer left hook, nearly KO'd prime Frazier)

    3)  Roy Jones (nobody ever did it better than prime Roy, but he never KO'd a prime great, which is why he isn't higher)

    4)  Michael Spinks (first to beat Holmes, but was better at lightheavy)

    5)  Gene Tunney (classy, scientific fighter, became heavyweight champ)

  14. roy jones jr

    archie moore

c**p i forgot who else i had in mind.
