  1. the laberos

    they did the long spikes

  2. i think they're the captains

  3. they are called liberos and are defensive specialists, they have limitations on what they can do in terms of offensive hits, they can however be subbed in and out as much as you want

  4. The Libero:

A defensive specialist who can sub into the backrow for another player at almost any time.  In some organizations they can serve, but are never allowed in the front row, cannot hand set the ball in front of the 10 foot line and cannot attack a ball above the plane of the net.  They wear an opposite colored shirt to identify their role.

  5. The player is called a libero. In 1998 the libero player was introduced internationally, the term meaning free in Italian; the NCAA introduced the libero in 2002. The libero is a player specialized in defensive skills: the libero must wear a contrasting jersey color from his or her teammates and cannot block or attack the ball when it is entirely above net height. When the ball is not in play, the libero can replace any back-row player, without prior notice to the officials. This replacement does not count against the substitution limit each team is allowed per set, although the libero may be replaced only by the player whom they replaced.

The libero may function as a setter only under certain restrictions. If she/he makes an overhand set, she/he must be standing behind (and not stepping on) the 3-metre line; otherwise, the ball cannot be attacked above the net in front of the 3-metre line. An underhand pass is allowed from any part of the court.

Furthermore, a libero is not allowed to serve, according to international rules, with the exception of the NCAA women's volleyball games, where a 2004 rule change allows the libero to serve, but only in a specific rotation. That means, the the libero can only serve for one person, not all the people that she goes in for.

  6. liberos are the people who can go in a nd out of the game with out doing the offical sub in the 10 foot line. they just run in and of the court with the same player. and they can only stay in the back row and pass and set.

  7. the libero... which is kind of a defensive specialist

  8. liberos

  9. They are called liberos.  They were created to make the game more competitive because they add an additional defensive specialist on the court.  They wear different color jerseys to signify their liberties.  They can enter the court for any person at any time without having to stop the game.  There are certain rules they have, but that is the main jist of it.  I'm a middle, so it's pretty sweet that they can play crazy defense instead of my having to strap my helmet on!  Cheers!

  10. Libero

They stay in the back row the whole time.

  11. goalies
