The people who are saying handball is a team sport involving more then 4 people are most likely from Europe where it is known as team handball. Team Handball goes back too the late 1880's where it was played in Germany,Denmark and Sweden since then the game is popular throughout most of Europe also played in Africa and Asia. It has been a regular Olympic Sport since 1972 played by both men and women teams.

          The game involves 7 players each side who throw,catch, and dribble a ball while trying too score

In middle school we used to play handball. If you lost the point you had to stick your butt in the air and each player got 1 throw as hard as they could and try to hit you. We called the game Butts-Up. I didn't realize it was an official sports category
