  1. I grew up unnecessarily poor. Meaning we didn't have to be poor my parents made some poor choices and decisions that caused us to live in poverty. I am no longer poor because when given the opportunity I have made the right choices. I am not rich but I'm able to manage comfortably within my means even in this time of scarcity and economic upheaval. I don't ignore the poor. I share something more precious than money or time. I share my knowledge of how to bring yourself out of poverty. I lay a pathway. It's up to the individual the walk the path of success.

I was poor but I never lived in public housing. I am not causing poor people to be disenfranchised. See my answer to your first question.

What is so unfair about reaping benefit of your hard work and wise decision? Is it fair that I have to work twice as much to put food on the table of an able bodied person who how has come to the conclusion that they will reap the benefit of my hard work? Better yet is it fair that I have to take what I have worked hard to obtain away from my family just to give it to someone who refuses to seize the same opportunities afforded to them that I took advantage of?  First of all what I have said is not directed toward the handicapped. I feel we have a social obligation to help those who are physically disadvantaged. That is fair and being a good neighbor. I'm talking about those who face the same challenges I face and simply refuse to step up to the challenge. People who are not satisfied with the condition they are in will seek to change or improve their situation. Again see my first answer.

  2. Whilst the politicians crow that america is the greatest and everyone has great opportunities they ignore the fact that America has the largest number of poor and destitute in the civilized world!!

All whilst spending trillions on the wars and sending money abroad to places where many are better off than Americas own citizens!!!

  3. Some of us have the mentality that "it's not me or mine", so it gets ignored.  I have traveled to a few countries in my lifetime and although, I love my country, I have to wonder why is it that we see more and more homeless people everyday.  Pretty soon, we are going to be the only "superpower" (if we still are) that has equal the amount of jobless, hungry and homeless that they do in Ethiopia.  I think in most European countries, they take much better care of their people.  Whether it is helping find jobs, shelter, or feeding them when they are in trouble.  The difference is in America, most people look down on someone who is in need of assistance unfairly.  We don't know their situation, we just assume they are being lazy and looking for a handout.  And most people who do need assistance (and know they do not fall into the "lazy" category, are too ashamed to ask for help because of the ridicule that they have to bear.  It just seems a huge contradiction to me, to call ourselves "patriotic" when we have no love for our fellow countrymen.
