I am new to horse racing and betting but I am thinking Hard Spun and Street Sense are the two top horses in this years derby. Let me know who are you going to bet on and how?

Thanks.

  1. for being new to horse racing you show some good savvy.

I'd box both those in an exaxta.

  2. I would bet on Street Sense  or Nobiz  Like  Shobiz.

  3. i think street sense and curlin are supposed to do really good- but barbaro's legacy will never be beaten

  4. This is a real deep field of runners. Actually, on paper, one of the deepest fields in a few years and a case can be made for about a dozen or so possible runners to win the race. If the race was held Monday evening, I like Cowtown Cat because of his possible odds - 7-1 or higher - and is fast improving at age three.

But Street Sense has had a lot of success at Churchill Downs and Hard Spun may also be had on Derby Day at 7-1 or higher.

  5. I like Stormello, but it will all depend on the post positions that will be drawn on Wednesday.

  6. Here are my top jockies to win.

    1) Shaun Bridgmohan

    2)Robby Albarado

    3) Fernando Jara

    4)Calvin Borel

    5) Ramon Dominguez

    6) Edgar Prado

  7. I have to be honest with you on this since you are new. Sometimes the best horse doesn't win, with 20 runners it gets a little hairy at times. I always take into consideration the post positions! What if Street Sense gets hung out in gate #20?

With that said I will have a few different tri's in, and several exactas. I usually try to key one horse in the Win position, with quite a few underneath.

**I just read where Hard Spun turned in a blistering workout this morning. I don't know if that bodes well for him, he was going to be one of my top selections!
