Who are you living for?

This life’s not for me

What makes a man sail on oceans so blue

It just isn’t something everyone can do

A tic in his makeup a flaw in his genes

To make a man trade these blues for lands greens

There’s something in the air that makes a man do it

There’s someone at home that sees him through it

Another man on land doesn’t see it like this

He’ll never know of the things that we miss

A chance to make a life and good money he’ll say

With the hope of getting to see it one day

He spends his life alone on the waters

Far away from their wives sons and daughters

There’s danger at sea and these chances he takes

Never ever revealing how much his heart aches

On board with his crew he keeps a stern face

Praying to God no ones taking his place

This is something unspoken not said to each other

For theirs is a bond a glue like no other

Something special inside each one of these men

It’s hard to explain like being akin
